The Center for Systems Security and Information Assurance (CSSIA) established the first comprehensive Information Technology Security and Data Assurance Center in the Midwest. This center collects, categorizes, adapts, enhances, standardizes and evaluates curriculum and offers training programs to community college and university faculty, secondary school faculty and students across the region.  Advance IT Minnesota partners with CSSIA in running the annual Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition for the Minnesota-Wisconsin event.

• The SANS Institute The SANS (System Administration, Networking, and Security) Institute is a cooperative research and education organization through which more than 96,000 system administrators, security professionals, and network administrators share the lessons they are learning and find solutions for challenges they face. SANS was founded in 1989.

• CERT Coordination Center Studies Internet security vulnerabilities, provides incident response services to sites that have been the victims of attack, publishes a variety of security alerts, researches security and survivability in a wide-area-networked computing environment.
